Test run

It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so please bear with me if I’ve forgotten how to do it. It’s about 0635 on Saturday morning, and I’m unable to sleep for some reason, so I decided to try something new. I’m still without actual Internet here at the house, which is the main reason for no entries in the past several weeks. I did discover an application for my phone that I can use to write entries, but it’s a pain typing on the phone. Just the other day I discovered another application for the phone that lets me store documents as if the phone were a USB storage device. Now I’m trying a full-length post using both applications in a copy-and-paste kinda thing.

Those of you who I talk to regularly, and those of you who follow my Facebook already know pretty much everything that’s been going on with me recently. The onset of diabetes is the biggest news, I guess, and even that’s not much to tell. I have a very mild case of it, and I’m on medication to regulate it, along with modifying my food intake. The most positive result of this so far is that even after these initial short couple of weeks, I am already using the next smaller notch on my belt. Monday is when I finally go in for an appointment to see the people at the clinic who can tell me the exact methods for doing what I’ve been doing on my own as far as diet and exercise. That’s really all there is to tell about that.

Work is going fairly well for the nonce. I’m going to be picking up more hours for the next several weeks. Our hospital and clinic system was recently bought by a major medical corporation that most of us had never heard of until now. This corporation is now setting up training for most of the higher-ups in our system, and they’ve rented a local school to do the teaching. So, I’m going to be cleaning the school 2 or 3 times a week until sometime in April. The only drawback to this is that I’m going to be working every other weekend for a while. Oh well, so be it.

Bella is hassling me at the moment as I sit and type. She figures that since I’m up, she should have breakfast. I disagree; she just ate about six hours ago when I got home from work. If I can wait, so can she.

During all this time I’ve been off, I have been writing some entries here and there which are stored on my computer. They aren’t time-sensitive at all, and can be posted anytime, so if this little experiment works out I can use this method to post them in the future. The only drawbacks to this are that I can’t include hyperlinks in the text at all, and I can’t really send out any email update notices because while I have access to the email account through my phone, I don’t have access to the addresses on my mailing list. As a result, my doing updates this way is going to be a crapshoot for quite some time. I really need to get Internet back in the house. Maybe I’ll call for it this weekend and do some pricing. I really don’t want to go back to my previous provider.

I realize that this isn’t much to write for having been away for so long, but that’s really all there is right now. I’m going to close it off now and see if I can get it posted, then I’m going to go watch a movie on DVD and see if I can get some sleep that I didn’t get last night.
